Tuesday - Friday, 8 am - 2 pm; Saturday and Sunday 9 am - 4 pm; Closed Monday. 

What's up with the name?

Troy Hill was once farm land and--rumor has it--an orchard atop of what is now Rialto Street used to produce some very delicious pears. Then, when Pittsburgh industrialized, many residents were pickle packers at the neighboring Heinz plant. So there you have it. 

What do you sell at the market?

Prepared foods, eggs, ice cream, sundries, and whatever else you tell us to sell! Email pearandpickle@gmail.com with your suggestions.

Are you open for breakfast?

We sure are. You can grab coffee, a breakfast sandwich, yogurt parfait or some fresh baked cookies, cakes and pastries.

What the heck is a Saturday supper?

Remember those big family meals, when relatives would cook all day and the whole house would be filled with scent of braised meats and overcooked vegetables--the kind that required the extra leaf in the dining room table yet you were still crammed between two cousins, one of whom was a left handed? Well it will be like that, except you don't have to cook, the green beans won't be mushy and you only have to bring your family if you want to. We'll set the menu a week in advance and take reservations for 30 people. The dinners will be casual and simple. We're not reinventing the wheel here, we just want to serve good food among good company. Feel free to bring your uncle's homemade hooch--it's BYOB.
